Canada Indian Students: After the decision to expel Indian students from Canada, 700 students started protesting together. After this, the Government of Canada relieved the Indian students. The Canadian government put on hold the deportation proceedings initiated against Lovepreet Singh, one of the 700 students.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) ordered Lovepreet Singh to leave the country by June 13 after officials found that the offer letter based on which he had come to Canada six years ago on a study permit, that was bogus. This started the protest. Due to this, about 700 Indian students were ordered to be expelled from the country based on fake college entry letters.
Our Focus Is To Identify The Culprits – Justin Trudeau
Lovepreet Singh is among the 700 students served deportation notices by the Canadian authorities over forged documents. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau assured on Thursday (June 8) that his government would take appropriate steps after understanding the matter.
During the debate in Parliament, he said that we are acutely aware of cases of international students facing deportation orders on fraudulent college acceptance letters. Our focus is on identifying the culprits and not on punishing the victims.
Aam Aadmi Party MP Said This
Aam Aadmi Party MP Vikramjit Singh Sahni said on Friday (June 9) that the Canadian government had stayed the decision to deport 700 Indian students. Sahni is the International President of the World Punjabi Organization. He said the Canadian government decided after his request and with the help of the Indian High Commission.
He said, We have written to them and explained that these students had not committed any forgery or fraud. They are victims of fraud as some unauthorized agents have issued fake admit cards and payment receipts. Visas were also implemented without any checks. Then when the children reached there, the immigration department allowed them to go inside.
