Government Stops Onion Price Hike; Farmers To Get Rs 2,410 Per Quintal

The central government has made an important decision against importing export duty on onions in Nashik, Maharashtra, where traders have stopped working in Asia’s largest wholesale onion market. This decision of the government will put a stop to the possible increase in onion prices. That is, after tomato, now onion will not be expensive. The government will start procuring more than two lakh tonnes of onions from the big wholesale markets today. This step of the government will not only benefit the common man, but it will also be beneficial for the farmers.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that we all know that in the last few days, on the orders of the Government of India, NAFED and NCCF have bought 3 lakh tonnes of onions from Nashik, Lasalgaon, Ahmednagar and the entire region. Along with this, a 40% export duty has been imposed on onions so that an adequate quantity of onions is available in India.

According to him, NAFED and NCCF will buy onions in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and other areas where onions are grown so that farmers can get the right price for their produce. He said the purchase price had been fixed today at Rs 2,410 per quintal. No farmer needs to worry.
