China Drilling Earth Crust: Chinese scientists are drilling 10 thousand meters, i.e. 32,808 feet deep hole in the Earth. In such a situation, the question arises of why China is doing this; what will it benefit from it? The news from China does not get out; the official news agency Xinhua has given information. According to this, China started drilling in the country’s oil-rich Xinjiang region on Tuesday. They claimed that it is the deepest borehole in the country.
The slender shaft will go deep into the Earth to more than 10 continental strata or layers of rock. This shaft can reach the Earth’s crust as far back as the Cretaceous system, 145 million years old.
How Hard Is This Job
Drilling a hole up to 10,000 meters inside the Earth is challenging. Sun Jinsheng, a Chinese Academy of Engineering scientist, said the task was as difficult as driving a large truck on two thin wires. It will take 457 days to complete it.

What Would Be The Benefit?
Xinjiang is an oil-rich region. The scientist is likely drilling holes in the Earth’s womb to identify hidden mineral and energy resources. This work could help assess the risks of natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. However, media reports have claimed that China, the country with the world’s second-largest economy, is exploring the Earth’s upper surface and lower boundaries through this hole.
China National Petroleum Corp is doing the work of drilling holes in the Earth. The company says that this project will enable the study of the Earth’s internal structure. Apart from this, deep underground drilling techniques will also be tested.
Jinping Inspired Scientists
President Xi Jinping addressed the country’s leading scientists in 2021. He directed to speed up the exploration of the depths of the Earth.
This Is The Deepest Hole In The World
The deepest hole in the world is the Russian Kola superdeep borehole. It took 20 years to complete it. It is 40,230 feet deep.
