The US claims to have issued record visas for Indian students. According to the figures released by the embassy, the US Embassy in India has issued more than 1,25,000 student visas which are record-breaking. On Wednesday, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said that one in every five US student visas in 2022 would be issued to India, which is more than the proportion of the world’s Indian population.
The US Embassy on Wednesday celebrated the annual Student Visa Day across the country, during which 3500 Indian student visa applicants were interviewed at consulates in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
“More Indians come to America than any other country in the world,” Garcetti said. One in five student visas will be issued here in India in 2022, more than the proportion of the Indian population worldwide. Indians have not only studied in America but have also shown their talent for decades.
We are processing the most student visa applications in our history. He said the US administration will conduct more student visa programs this year than ever before. “In the coming weeks, we will release a schedule for thousands of visa applications for July and August,” he said.
Compared to the total number of students worldwide, the number of Indian students in America is more than 21 per cent.
According to the figures released by the embassy, the US Embassy in India has issued more than 1,25,000 student visas which are record-breaking. In 2022, the highest number of H&L employment visas (65 per cent) and F1 student visas (17.5 per cent) were issued to Indians worldwide.
More than 1.2 million people travelled to the United States last year, one of the largest international visitor groups ever to arrive there. Indian students account for more than 21 per cent of the total international students in the US. Around two lakh Indians are studying in the US during the academic year 2021-22.
