At the beginning of the month, specific rules related to your finances change. This usually happens on the first of every month. This year, September is about to end. On October 1, rules related to railway tickets, pensions, UPI, and gas cylinders will change. Let us tell you about five things that will change from October 1.
The first of every month is essential for financial health, as some rules affecting ordinary people change on this day. This time, some rules are specific to change, while others are expected to improve.
Revision in LPG Cylinder Prices
October is a festive month. Therefore, people are hoping for a reduction in LPG cylinder prices. In previous months, companies have reduced the price of 19-kilogram LPG cylinders. This time, the cost of 14-kilogram cylinders has decreased.
Ticket Rules
The Railways have changed ticket booking rules to prevent ticket fraud. These rules, which will come into effect from October 1, 2025, will allow booking tickets within 15 minutes of the ticket counter opening. Currently, this rule only applies to Tatkal ticket bookings.
UPI-Related Changes
Starting October 1, some major UPI (Unified Payments Interface) rules will change. The new regulations issued by NPCI will affect apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm. The most significant change is the removal of the P2P transaction feature. This step has been taken to enhance user security and prevent online fraud. This means that from October 1, 2025, you will no longer be able to use the option to send money directly to each other on UPI apps.
Pension-Related Changes
Major changes will also occur in the NPS (National Pension System) from October 1, 2025. Non-government subscribers can now invest their entire pension amount (100%) in equity-related schemes, whereas previously, this limit was only 75%. Additionally, private sector employees must now pay a fee to open a PRAN.
- E-PRAN kit costs ₹18
- Physical PRAN card costs ₹40
- Annual maintenance charge ₹100 per account
Meanwhile, for Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and NPS Lite subscribers, the PRAN opening and maintenance charge will be just ₹15. Fortunately, there will be no transaction fees.
