UP Government to Train Youth in Foreign Languages for Overseas Jobs

The state government has taken a significant step to assist young people preparing to seek employment abroad. The Labour and Employment Department is now implementing a scheme under which skilled workers going abroad will receive specialised training in foreign languages and work skills.

The goal is to ensure that young people do not face language-related difficulties upon arriving abroad and can perform their jobs efficiently.

The department is soon preparing to sign an MoU with KMC Language University, Lucknow, to provide them with easy access to basic language training in Japanese, German, Hebrew (Israeli), and Russian. Furthermore, given the demand for nursing in Germany and Japan, the Nursing Association is also signing an MoU with Greater Noida.

Through this scheme, training will be provided in the nursing field. Additionally, other institutions will also provide training in work skills such as machine operation, construction technical knowledge, electrical and mechanical skills, and basic healthcare skills.

Dr M.K. Shanmugha Sundaram, Principal Secretary of the Labour Department, states that there is consistently high demand for workers from Uttar Pradesh in countries like Israel, Japan, Germany, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates. Increasing language and work skills will facilitate employment opportunities and boost youth confidence.

By acquiring skills and learning foreign languages, youth from the state will be able to communicate better abroad, reducing language barriers in the workplace. This initiative will open up new employment opportunities for youth and help them become internationally competitive. The department will soon develop training modules and begin selecting eligible youth.

This scheme is expected to benefit thousands of youth in the state directly. This initiative will not only promote employment but also help the state gain a stronger position in the global labour market. The Labour and Employment Department has recently received an RA (Recruitment Agency) license. Now, the department has the authority to send youth abroad for direct labour work, provide counselling, and monitor safety standards. Last year, the Labour Department sent 5,978 construction workers to Israel.
