This German Company Will Launch 5 Cars In India, This Model Will Come First

After showcasing the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen India has now announced its new product plan for 2026. The company has confirmed that it will launch five new models in the Indian market, with one new model introduced every quarter. The company’s upcoming vehicles will be in SUV, sedan, and hatchback body styles, and will focus on the premium segment.

The Tayron R-Line will be the first of these new models to be launched in India. Volkswagen says that the goal of continuously launching new models is to maintain the brand’s presence and increase customer engagement. According to the company, its major goals for 2026 focus on premium, attractive products, an enhanced customer experience, and a distinctive brand experience. While details of the other four models have not yet been revealed, Volkswagen has clarified that each new model will be introduced keeping different premium customer categories in mind. The Tayron R-Line will spearhead this entire plan and will be launched in the first quarter of 2026.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Highlights

The Tayron R-Line will be the company’s flagship SUV in India and will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line. This marks Volkswagen’s return to the premium three-row SUV segment after the discontinuation of the Tiguan Allspace. This 7-seater SUV is built on the MQB EVO platform and has received a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It has a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, 109 mm longer than the Tiguan’s, to accommodate the third row of seats.

Features include massage seats.

Sporty bumpers, R-Line badging, and 19-inch alloy wheels distinguish the Tayron R-Line. Its cabin features a 15-inch touchscreen angled towards the driver and a digital instrument cluster. In terms of features, it gets leather seats with ventilated and massage functions for the front seats, a panoramic sunroof, matrix LED headlamps, 30-colour ambient lighting, and up to 850 litres of boot space with the third row folded down. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

It will compete with the Toyota Fortuner

While the Tiguan R-Line was a completely built unit (CBU) import, the Tayron R-Line will be assembled in India. This is why its price is expected to be more competitive. Its estimated ex-showroom price could range from Rs 43 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. This SUV will compete with vehicles like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and the upcoming MG Gloster.
