‘Warner Is Not As Strong As Before, Should Consider Retiring’

Former Australia all-rounder Simon O’Donnell believes opener David Warner is no longer the Test player he used to be. The 36-year-old should consider retiring from the longest format of the game. Warner scored three runs in both innings of the first Test cricket match against South Africa in Brisbane. Australia won this match by six wickets within two days.

David Warner scored his last Test century in January 2020 and scored 5, 48, 21, and 28 in the four innings he played this summer before the first Test against South Africa.

O’Donnell told SEN Radio on Monday, “I think he (Warner) will be considering it, and he will have to retire after the Sydney Test (third Test match which will be played from January 4 to 8) against South Africa.”

He said, “We are not only talking about the last few innings of David Warner. We are talking about David Warner’s performance in the previous two years. He is no longer the player he used to be”.
