India Penalized For Maintaining Slow Over Rate: Team India has been fined heavily for maintaining a slow over rate in the first ODI against New Zealand. The match was played on January 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

India was fined 60 per cent of the match fee in this match for a slow over-rate against New Zealand. Emirates ICC Elite Panel match referee Javagal Srinath said that India bowled three overs slow from time. The time allowance was taken into account before arriving at a decision.

By Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for each over they fail to bowl in the allotted time.

India captain Rohit Sharma accepted the offence imposed by on-field umpires Anil Choudhary and Nitin Menon, third umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madangopal. Because of this, there was no need for a formal hearing.

India Vs New Zealand ODI Series

Talking about India vs New Zealand ODI series, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead by winning the first three-match series by 12 runs. The vital contribution in this victory of India was of Shubman Gill, who scored a double century to take India to a score of 349.

Gill played a blistering inning of 208 runs and became the youngest batsman in the world to score a double century. In front of this score of India, the entire New Zealand team collapsed for 337 runs. Bracewell played a brilliant inning of 140 runs but could not win his team.

The second series match between India and New Zealand will be played tomorrow, i.e. January 21, in Raipur. Team India will be eyeing to make an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series by winning this match, while the New Zealand team would like to win the Raipur ODI and equalize 1-1 in the series.
