Meta Platforms Inc’s social media apps were down for thousands of users in the US on Wednesday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com. According to DownDetector, more than 12,000 users across Instagram reported issues with access to the app, and nearly 8,000 incidents were reported for the Facebook app.
The Reason For The Social Media App being Down Is Not Clear
Downdetector.com data shows that outage reports for WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger have also increased. Downdetector tracks outages by combining status reports from multiple sources, including errors submitted by users on its platform. At present, it is unknown what was the reason for this problem. Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment, reports news agency Reuters.
There Was A Problem Before
Earlier in May last year, there were problems with the meta platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in America (US) and Britain (UK). Instagram was down globally on April 19, 2022, as well. Most users complained then that they could not access their profile or refresh the feed.
