The Nepal cricket team has announced its squad for Dubai’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series. However, the team does not feature premier leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who recently featured in another tri-series in the Cricket World Cup League 2, taking 13 wickets in four matches.
Shocking Decision Of The Nepal Team
The leg-spinner is out on bail and was allowed to play a while back, but the opposition teams protested, and the Scotland players did not even shake hands with him. Apart from Nepal, the other two teams in this triangular series are UAE and Papua New Guinea.
Lamichhane was not selected for the 15-member provisional squad, but efforts were made to get court permission to travel abroad. But his name was not included in the final team announced by the Nepal Cricket Association on Saturday. Nepal will play its first match in the tri-series against Dubai on Monday.
Lamichhane was suspended by CAN last year after an arrest warrant was issued against him following allegations. He was taken into police custody and later granted bail, after which his suspension was lifted by CAN earlier this month. He was included in the squad for the tri-series against Namibia and Scotland.
In the points table of Cricket World Cup League 2, Nepal is in the seventh position with 26 points after winning 12 out of 28 matches. During this, Sandeep Lamichhane had an excellent performance. He took 55 wickets in 24 games and is third on the list of highest wicket-takers.
