Air India’s Boeing 747, which ruled the skies for five decades, took its last flight on Monday, April 22, 2024. The Boeing 747 plane, known as the ‘Queen of the Sky’, has taken its last flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to America.
In 2023, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) decided to retire this four-decade-old aircraft. Air India’s Boeing 747 was once called the Queen of the Sky. At one time, everyone from the President to the Prime Minister used to travel in this plane.
Air India Shared The Picture On Social Media
While sharing the picture of the Queen of the Sky on its official social media account, Air India wrote that today, the Queen of the Sky B 747 has said goodbye to Mumbai. The post further states that today, a wonderful era has ended. We are thanking the Boeing 747. We will always remember your iconic presence. The video of the Air India plane taking off from the airport has also been shared on social media.

Boeing’s First Jumbo Jet Arrived In 1971
Air India and Boeing 747 have been together for decades. Air India first purchased a Boeing 747 plane on March 22, 1971. On May 21, 1971, Boeing’s 747-400 aircraft, known as a Jumbo Jet, was included in the fleet for the first time.
