Railway Refund Rules: Get Refund Even After Missing The Train, Know What You Have To Do

Railway Refund Rules: Indian Railways has changed its two existing rules from April 1 to save passengers from financial loss. This change in rule for passengers is related to the departure of trains. In the changed law, passengers who have connecting tickets can get a full refund of their fare if they fail to catch their connecting train in case the second train is missed due to the late arrival of the first train. Under another rule change, the passenger may get the facility to change his boarding station.

This decision was taken because many passengers miss their trains due to the late arrival of the first train. In this case, the new law allows the passenger to get a full refund for the second ticket, provided they have filled inaccurate information about both tickets. Also, the arrival point of the first ticket and departure point of the second ticket should be the same.

Keep These Things In Mind

In the new law related to the change of boarding station, the passenger can get the facility to change his boarding station four hours before the departure of the train; that is, the passenger can change his boarding station before the chart is made. Passengers will not be able to take advantage of this relief after chart preparation. This rule will apply to all passengers who have reservations under the general quota category, even if they have ‘Tatkal’ tickets.

Passengers who have counter tickets will have to inform railway officials at the starting point of their journey. At the same time, those with e-tickets can change the boarding station by logging into the IRCTC website before chart preparation. Passengers who cannot do either of these can call 139 and request a change of boarding station over the phone. However, this phone call must be forwarded four hours before the chart is prepared. This facility of changing boarding stations will be free for all passengers.
