Former ISRO Chief’s Unfulfilled Dream Finally Comes True; This Is Why He Was So Overjoyed

India created history when Vikram Lander stepped on the Moon at 6:04 p.m. on 23 August. Millions of people watching on TV and online platforms lit up with joy. As soon as the landing occurred, many scientists, including ISRO Chief M Somanath, sitting in Bangalore, knew how big a fort they had conquered. India has inaugurated the South Pole, which no other country’s Chandrayaan could reach.

Amidst the moment of celebration and pride, another person kept a close eye on the landing. His name is K Sivan. As soon as the mission was successful, the dream of this former ISRO chief, which he had seen in 2019, was fulfilled.

After the crash of Chandrayaan-2 4 years ago, Sivan’s tears are still in the minds of Indians. Sivan was so happy with this success that even after landing, he stayed in the control room with other scientists for a long time. He said that he had reached home late at night.

So Happy That Sivan Forgot To Go Home

Former ISRO chief K Sivan said in a conversation with news agency ANI that, finally, our prayers have been fulfilled. We didn’t go home after landing on the Moon. Sivan said I sat in the control room until the rover came from the lander. I went home only after seeing the rover walking on the surface of the Moon. I reached home late at night. After the successful landing on the Moon last evening, Sivan said we had been waiting for the previous four years. This success is excellent news for us and the whole country.

4 Years Ago, The Whole Country Cried With Sivan

Sivan was the ISRO chief in 2019, i.e. four years ago. Chandrayaan-2 was only a short distance from the Moon. Then, something happened that broke the heart of every Indian. All hopes were shattered as soon as the lander crashed. K Sivan was quite disappointed.

On the second day, Prime Minister Modi congratulated him by hugging him. The spacecraft was launched on 22 July, and a landing was scheduled for 6 September. During the landing attempt, the lander deviated from its target, lost contact with the mission control room, and crashed into the lunar surface. ISRO had then told a software glitch.

This setback came as a blow to the ISRO team as their hard work on this project did not yield successful results. In preparation for Chandrayaan-3, the current ISRO chairman, S. Somanath, elaborated that the space agency focused on what went wrong in 2019 to ensure a successful landing this time.
