Maharashtra SIR Deadline: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list in Maharashtra has now reached its final stage. According to the Election Commission’s deadline, August 17 (Monday) is the last day to submit forms and complete verification. The Commission had previously set August 8 as the deadline for this process, which was later extended to August 17. Voters who have not yet submitted their forms or required documents have been advised to take advantage of this final opportunity.
Background for the Extension of the Date
Considering heavy rains in the state and administrative commitments such as the Ashadhi Wari Yatra, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and various political parties had requested an extension.
In response to this request, the Election Commission of India extended the deadline for the revision process to August 17. Under this campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are going door-to-door to verify voters and collect forms physically.
Publication of the Draft Electoral Roll and Further Process
After the verification process concludes on August 17, the Election Commission will release the Draft Electoral Roll for the state. Voters with inaccuracies or missing names will be able to file their claims and objections between August 17 and September 16.
Received claims and objections will be resolved by October 15, and the final electoral roll for the state will be published on October 19.
The Consequences of Not Completing the Process on Time
Election officials have warned that if voters fail to submit their information and forms on time, their names may be excluded from the draft voter list. This exclusion could result in disqualification from voting in the upcoming elections. Therefore, citizens should contact their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) or complete the process immediately through the online portal.
