Donald Trump Agrees to 2-Week Ceasefire with Iran to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran. This agreement came less than two hours before his 8 p.m. deadline to destroy “an entire civilisation.” Trump stated that the ceasefire agreement was conditional on Iran reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. In his post, he stated that Iran had offered him a 10-point ceasefire offer. The ceasefire, announced on Truth Social, followed a request from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

American news outlet CNN quoted a senior White House official as saying that Israel is also part of the two-week ceasefire announced by President Donald Trump. Under this deadline, Iran must reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or face intensified military attacks on civilian infrastructure. The official said Israel has also agreed to halt its bombing until negotiations continue.

Iran to Open Strait of Hormuz: Trump

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran. This decision came just hours before his 8 p.m. deadline to launch a devastating attack. The decision came after requests from the Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Field Marshal, Asim Munir. The ceasefire is conditional on Iran completely, immediately, and safely reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump stated that the US has already achieved all its military objectives and is very close to a long-term peace agreement with Iran. He stated that the US has received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which he considers a viable basis for negotiations, as most of the previous contentious issues have already been resolved. These two weeks have been set aside to finalise this agreement.

US Accepts Iran’s Proposal – National Security Council
