According to Bloomberg, South Korea’s spy agency said on Wednesday (May 31) that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un suffers from sleep disorders. This happened because of his excessive consumption of alcohol. Because of this, he has become addicted to nicotine.
Citing the National Intelligence Service (NIS), the outlet reported that the North Korean dictator suffers from a lack of sleep. Because of Kim Jong Un’s illness, his officials constantly gather information about the foreign treatment that can cure Kim Jong. They are also collecting data about different types of medicines. Zolpidem is also included in his list of medicines. Zolpidem is used in the treatment of sleep disorders.
Importing A Large Number Of Foreign Cigarettes
Yoo Sang-beom, a lawmaker from South Korea’s ruling People Power Party and executive secretary of the Parliamentary Intelligence Committee, shared information from the NIS briefing with reporters. He said North Korea recently imported many foreign cigarettes from brands, including Marlboro and Dunhill. Apart from this, high-end snacks traditionally served with alcohol were also included.
Besides this, citing Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis of recent photos, Yoo Sang-beom said Kim’s weight has also increased. According to him, the weight of the North Korean leader has exceeded 140 kg.
Grain Shortage In North Korea
According to the New York Post, Yoo said Kim has become dependent on alcohol and smoking. Because of this, he is struggling with the problem of lack of sleep. A member of the Intelligence Committee said that Kim Jong Un was seen during a public appearance on May 16, where marks of dark circles were seen around his eyes. He was looking very tired.
Yoo also said that the plight of the North Korean people has been increasing since Kim came to power. There is a shortage of food in the country. The prices of grains have increased. The South Korean official said there has also been an increase in crime, suicide and starvation deaths in the nation.
