Ship Stuck Again In Suez Canal, Movement Of Ships Disrupted

An oil tanker got stuck in the Suez Canal, called the junction of the world, on Sunday. The Suez Canal Authority had to install three tugboats to pull this heavy ship. This oil tanker was going from Russia to China. During this, when the tanker started crossing the Suez Canal, its machinery developed a fault. This heavy oil tanker got stuck in the Suez Canal when the machine broke down.

As soon as they got information about this, the officials of the Suez Canal Authority swelled up. He remembered the previous incident when the Suez Canal was closed for several days due to a ship going to China.

Officials Shocked By Information About Tanker Getting Stuck

The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabi, said that the oil tanker SEAVIGOR evacuation operation was started as soon as the Khy Navigation Control Center was informed about the malfunction. This tanker was stopped at the 12th kilometre of the Suez Canal. The ship travelled from Russia to China as part of the Northern Convoy. He said that immediately the tugboat was dispatched, after which the tanker’s towing started with the tugboat.

Stuck Tanker Pulled Out With Great Difficulty

Osama Rabi said regular traffic from the north would resume once the oil tanker was moved to the 17th kilometre of the canal. Whereas southbound traffic will wait in the Great Lakes until towing of this tanker is complete. The Suez Canal Authority has said that the administration has the necessary experience and navigation means to handle potential emergencies professionally. Rabi later said that traffic had resumed in both directions as the fault in the oil tanker was rectified immediately after the ship was towed.
