Apple launched the Apple Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 worldwide during the Wonderlust Event in September. After some time, the products became available for purchase. However, once again, Apple Watch sales have come to a halt. According to the information, Apple has stopped the Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 sales due to the Spo2 feature. Let us understand what the whole matter is.
What Is The Whole Matter?
According to information received, Apple got caught in a legal battle with Masimo, a medical tech company, over the technology used in its Series 9 and Ultra 2 smartwatches in October. After this, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) investigated it and said Apple Watch had broken Masimo’s patent. This means the company cannot sell its watch until it is resolved.
Investigation Into The Decision Continues!
President Joe Biden now has time till December 25 to investigate this ITC decision, but on the other hand, Apple also feels that there will be no change in this decision. Apple has already stated this, in which it has been said that they will stop the sales of Series 9 and Ultra 2 watches in America starting December 21 online and in stores beginning December 24.
This Will Not Affect Other Models
Although this break in sales is only for Series 9 and Ultra 2 models, it will not affect Apple Watch SE and other models. This is because this feature is not available in any different smartwatch model. The reports say that this temporary break in sales will not impact Apple’s sales in America much. Still, its impact on Apple will be visible during January and February. Apple disagrees with this decision of ITC and is planning to challenge it.
