IND Vs NZ: Hardik Pandya Took Out Michael Vaughan’s Arrogance, Gave A Befitting Reply

The Indian team is on a tour of New Zealand. Here the team will play a three-match T20 series from 18 November. Hardik Pandya has been given the captaincy of Team India for this series. Many players of Team India, including Pandya, reached New Zealand directly after the T20 World Cup.

However, after the defeat to England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, many questions are still lingering. Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently strongly criticized Team India’s approach to white-ball cricket. Vaughan called the Indian team the ‘worst performing team in the history of world cricket. Now Hardik has given a befitting reply to Vaughan.

Vaughan Wrote

Vaughan wrote in his column for the Daily Telegraph on India’s top order scoring around 6 runs per over in the powerplay. Of all the teams participating in this T20 World Cup, only UAE had a worse run rate than India in the powerplay.

Vaughan had said after losing to England by 10 wickets – this is the worst performing team in the history of Indian white ball. I am in awe of how he plays T20 cricket for his talent. They have the players, but they don’t have the right process.

We Don’t Have To Prove Anything To Anyone

When Hardik Pandya was asked about Vaughan’s comment, he said – he does not need to prove it, but there is always room for improvement. Pandya said- “Obviously when you don’t do well, people will have their own opinion, which we respect. I understand that people have different views. Being at the international level, I don’t think we need to prove anything to anyone.

Room For Improvement

Pandya further said- You keep trying to get better, and finally, when the result is about to come, it happens. There are things we need to work on. Pandya said – Going forward, we will improve it.

T20 World Cup is a disappointment, but we are professional players. We need to deal with this. We face our success and move forward the same way we need to get better and correct mistakes.

New People, New Energy

Regular skipper Rohit Sharma, vice-captain KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have been rested for the New Zealand tour. Hardik further said – New people, there is new energy. So it is going to be very exciting.

Players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda are likely to get a chance in these matches against New Zealand. Hardik said, “Next T20 World Cup will be in two years. If I am not wrong, then we have time. Till then, a lot of cricket will be played. Many players will have enough chances.
