Metro Will Run In Patna From Today, CM Nitish Will Inaugurate It; Know The Route and Fare

Patna Metro Launch: Bihar’s capital, Patna, is set to receive a significant boost on Monday as it joins the ranks of the country’s metro cities. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the first phase of the Patna Metro, which will run from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) to Bhootnath. The Chief Minister will launch the Patna Metro Rail service on the Blue Line. This corridor connects three important stations: Pataliputra Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Zero Mile, and Bhootnath.

After delays in train trials in August, Metro Rail officials have finally given the green light for the launch of metro services. The Metro will operate for passengers starting tomorrow, October 7th.

Which route will the Patna Metro train run on?

The metro corridor that CM Nitish will inaugurate will run on a 4.3-kilometre route. This Metro has been developed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) in collaboration with the Government of Bihar. The launch of this Metro will provide relief from the growing congestion problem in Patna.

This is part of Corridor-2 of the Patna Metro, connecting Patna Junction and ISBT, covering a 14.5-kilometre stretch with five elevated and seven underground stations. Patna has become the 24th city in the country to have a metro rail.

What will be the fare for the Patna Metro?

The Patna Metro will have three coaches, which will run to ISBT and then return to the depot via Bhootnath. The train will run at a speed of 40 km/h. Metro services will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials told the Times of India that people will receive metro cards and tokens from the stations, with a minimum fare of ₹15 and a maximum fare of ₹30.

How many people can travel simultaneously?

The Patna Metro has two lines – Blue and Red. Currently, construction and testing are underway at different stations on both lines. The coaches have a seating capacity of 158 passengers, including 12 reserved seats for women and individuals with disabilities, as well as standing space for 946. The report states that modern coaches feature amenities such as mobile phone and laptop charging points, a front emergency gate, and bi-fold sliding doors for enhanced safety and convenience.

The Metro will reflect the colours of Bihar.

Furthermore, to give it a Bihari feel and connect it with its culture and heritage, each coach features designs inspired by Bihar’s cultural heritage, such as the Golghar, Mahavir Temple, and Buddha figures, painted in saffron.
