Recently, demand for Indian weapons has increased rapidly. Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited alone has received orders worth over ₹10,000 crore.
Dhanush and Sarang have received orders worth ₹1,000 crore. Amidst numerous military conflicts, such as the US-Iran, Russia-Ukraine, Saudi-Houthis, and Israel versus Hamas and Hezbollah, even smaller countries have begun focusing on strengthening their defence sectors. India is reaping significant benefits from this. Indian arms manufacturing companies are receiving large-scale orders from abroad.
Demand for the Army’s most powerful artillery guns has surged abroad, with crowds flocking to view the Sarang cannon and machine gun.
Demand for indigenous small and medium weapons, as well as cannon-fired shells and tanks manufactured at Kanpur’s Ordnance Factory, has also grown rapidly globally. Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), a Kanpur-based PSU of the Ministry of Defence, has currently received orders worth ₹10,000 crore.
The company has made a strong bid in the tender process for orders worth ₹20,000 crore. According to recent information, the popularity of Dhanush and Sharang manufactured in Kanpur is evident not only in the country but also abroad.
Good News on Sixth Foundation Day
Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited organised an arms exhibition on its sixth foundation day two days ago on Wednesday. On Thursday, many school students and residents also came to view the weapons. India’s defence exports are booming. Amid the high demand for ‘Make in India’ weapons, the Ministry of Defence is working on multiple fronts simultaneously.
Last month, Rajnath Singh evaluated the annual performance of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), focusing on advancing indigenous technologies, promoting innovation, and boosting exports.
The Ministry of Defence’s annual report for FY 2025-26 revealed that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated and implemented indigenous advanced technology for high-frequency defence systems. This technology will form the backbone of next-generation radars, electronic warfare systems, advanced communications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and unmanned systems. This unprecedented achievement has revolutionised the Indian defence sector.
