Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Launch Price Features Range: German luxury car company Mercedes-Benz has launched its new all-electric SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric, in the Indian automobile market. Offered in India at an attractive starting price of ₹78.5 lakh (ex-showroom), this luxury car becomes the new entry point in the company’s electric SUV lineup.
Assembled in India, this SUV is based on an all-new 400V architecture electric platform and offers a WLTP-certified range of 711 km on a single charge. Standard AMG-Line styling, a 914-pixel illuminated front grille, a 15-speaker Burmester 3D sound system, and Level 2 ADAS features make it the most high-tech electric SUV in its segment. According to the company, it has received over 1,000 orders since bookings opened, and is currently sold out until March 2027.
Local Assembly and Record Bookings in India
Mercedes-Benz has decided to locally assemble its premium electric SUV in India, resulting in a very competitive price.
The company has reported that the car has received over 1,000 bookings since order bookings opened, resulting in a sell-out period until March 2027. The company is preparing to begin its first deliveries for the special occasion of Diwali.
New Design Language and Illuminated Grille
The exterior design of Mercedes-Benz’s all-new GLC Electric is striking and modern. Its front features a massive grille with 914 individual pixel-lit elements that create different animated patterns when the car is started or stopped.
The electric SUV’s headlights and taillights feature Mercedes’ signature three-pointed star LED DRLs. The standard AMG Line package includes 20-inch alloy wheels and sporty bumpers. The car is 140 mm longer and 23 mm wider than its petrol and diesel variants.
A 39.1-inch Hyperscreen is a great addition.
The biggest highlight of the Mercedes-Benz All-New GLC Electric’s interior is the massive 39.1-inch Hyperscreen that spans the dashboard. It’s a single continuous glass panel without any partitions or bezels, transforming the entire dashboard into a single screen.
The cabin of this luxury electric SUV features an open-pore wood finish, metal-finished AC vents, and a 15-speaker Burmester 3D sound system. Cabin theme options include black, beach brown, and ivory beige.
Advanced safety and comfort features
The list of features makes this car exceptionally rich and distinctive. It features a panoramic glass roof with illuminated stars (whose transparency can be electronically controlled), front massage and heated seats, wireless chargers, a 360-degree camera, nine airbags, auto parking assist, and Level 2 ADAS safety technology based on eight cameras and five radars. It’s also quite practical for storage, offering 570 litres of boot space and a 128-litre front frunk (front storage).
Powerful Powertrain, Two-Speed Gearbox, and Superfast Charging
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4Matic variant features a 94 kWh battery pack that powers both axles and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. With 490 hp of power and 800 Nm of torque, this 2.5-ton SUV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
This electric SUV features a two-speed gearbox for improved acceleration and efficiency. The GLC Electric comes standard with a 22 kW AC charger, while a 330 kW DC fast charger can charge it for a range of up to 300 km in 10 minutes.
This car will compete.
While the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric doesn’t have any direct rivals in the Indian market, it will face direct competition from the upcoming BMW iX3, which will arrive in India next year. With a proven range of 711 km and a luxurious interior, Mercedes-Benz has significantly strengthened its position in India’s premium electric vehicle market.
