MDH’s Clarification On The Dispute

MDH stated in this regard on Saturday. The company says that it has not yet received any communication from the food safety regulators of Hong Kong or Singapore. The regulators of both countries have not sent any test report or communication to the Spice Board of India or the domestic regulator FSSAI. The company said this is false regarding the allegations of harmful pesticides in its products. There is no solid basis to make such an allegation.

This Is How The Controversy Started

This whole controversy started this month when reports of harmful pesticides being found in the products of two Indian spice brands, MDH and Everest, came to light in Hong Kong and Singapore. Hong Kong’s Center for Food Safety says that a pesticide called ethylene oxide has been found in many pre-packaged spice-mix products of both Indian brands.

These Spices Are Banned In Hong Kong

The Hong Kong regulator has instructed people not to buy many products of both brands and prohibited traders from selling related products. The products regarding which Hong Kong’s food regulator has issued instructions include MDH’s Madras Curry Powder, MDH Sambhar Masala, MDH Curry Powerda, and Everest’s Fish Curry Masala. After Hong Kong, Singapore’s Food Agency also issued instructions to recall Everest Fish Curry Masala from the market.

MDH Gave Assurance To Customers

MDH has issued a clarification regarding this dispute. The company says it does not use ethylene oxide in its products at any stage, from storage to processing and packaging. The company assures customers that it strictly follows all health and safety standards, both at domestic and international levels.
