Meta Job Cuts 2023: Meta, the parent company of social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, has announced layoffs again. The company has decided to show the way out to 10,000 employees in the third round of retrenchment. This retrenchment is a part of the plan announced in March. This reduction of Meta has also affected many top officials of India. The company has shown the way out to people working in many senior positions.
These Top Officers Of India Were Retrenched
The names of many prominent officers of India are also included in the list of affected employees in the latest round of Meta’s retrenchment. India marketing director Avinash Pant and Saket Jha Saurabh, director and head of media partnerships, have been fired by Meta. News agency Reuters tried to talk to the officials, but no one commented.
Most Layoffs Were Done In These Departments
According to the report published in Live Mint, in this round of layoffs, Meta has planned to remove the maximum number of people working in marketing, site security, enterprise engineering, program management, content strategy and corporate communication. Many employees affected by the layoff have shared this information on LinkedIn. Earlier, in November 2022, the company had fired a total of 11,000 people. It is worth noting that after this current retrenchment of Meta, the total number of employees in the company will be equal to July 2021. The company did large-scale hiring in the year 2020 during the Corona epidemic. In such a situation, the number of employees had almost doubled.
Why Meta Is Laying Off
There has been a big decline in Meta’s revenue in the last few months. Along with this, the company has taken this step due to inflation and reduced digital advertising. The company is also trying to focus on Artificial Intelligence by cutting its expenditure.
