Air India Cabin Crew to Get New Uniforms, Sarees to Be Phased Out

Air India flight crew will now be seen in a new look. Air India staff can get the gift of new uniforms by November this year, which Air India announced in August. Now, flight attendants will not be seen in sarees, but a new look has been prepared for them, too. Churidar-designed uniform has been selected for women, and men will be seen in suits now.

Saree Look Has Been Going On For The Last 60 Years

According to the Hindustan Times report, Air India will change its uniform after the last six decades. Earlier in the year 1962, during the time of JRD Tata, the air hostesses of the aviation company used to wear Western dress, in which the women’s uniform included a skirt, jacket, and cap. Still, after that, sports sarees were included as the uniform.

At that time, most of the air hostesses of Tata Airlines were of either Anglo-Indian or European origin. The first sarees were taken from Binny Mills. If we talk about the new look, the responsibility for the new look of the crew has been given to famous designer Manish Malhotra. However, Manish Malhotra has not provided any reaction regarding it.

Vistara’s Uniform Will Also Be The Same

After the merger of Vistara with Air India, its uniform will also be the same. On August 10, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer announced this. He said the new airline uniform was seen in the A350 aircraft, after which a change will be seen. This new look will also be completely traditional.
