A train got down from the railway bridge and entered the river directly. 7 coaches were washed away in the water. For the next 5 days, bodies were found and removed. Official figures say 300 deaths, but people say that many more people were killed in this accident.
Trains Collided In West Bengal, 285 Lives Were Lost
In 1999, there was a direct collision between the Awadh-Assam Express and the Brahmaputra Mail in West Bengal. 285 people died in this accident, and hundreds were injured. After this accident, preparations started to make a system to prevent collisions in trains, but till now, such accidents have not been stopped. A year before that, in 1998, more than 200 people died in a collision between the Amritsar Golden Temple Express and the Jammu Tawi-Sealdah Express.
These Accidents Also Caused Great Devastation
In 2002, the coach of Rajdhani Express fell directly into the river in Gaya; 150 people died in that accident. At the same time, in 2010, Dnyaneshwari Express derailed in West Bengal, in which 170 people died. Several coaches of the Patna-Indore Express derailed near Pukhrayan in Kanpur, in which 142 people died.
