Heavy Rains Continue In Maharashtra; Schools Closed Today In Many Districts Including Mumbai

Heavy rains are falling in many parts of the country these days. The situation is the worst in the Northeast and Maharashtra. While the northeastern state of Assam has been flooded after heavy rains, the capital of Maharashtra has been receiving continuous heavy rains for the last two days. Due to this, life has been disrupted.

Meanwhile, an order was issued to keep schools closed for the second consecutive day in the Mayanagari Mumbai. Earlier on Monday also, schools remained closed in Mumbai due to heavy rains. Along with Mumbai, orders have been given to keep schools closed in Pune due to heavy rains.

Staff Will Have To Come To School

Pune Collector Dr Suhas Diwase has said that all schools up to class 12 will remain closed on Tuesday, July 9, to avoid any untoward incident and emergency affecting the schools. However, school staff, including principals, teachers and non-teaching staff, have been directed to report to school during office hours to assist in disaster management efforts directed by the local administration. Along with this, the Pune Collector has advised the local people to be cautious, avoid tourist activities at the waterfalls and stay at home if not necessary to ensure safety.

IMD Issued a Red Alert

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a red alert. Given this, the BMC has also declared a holiday in all schools in Mumbai today, Tuesday. Earlier, the BMC had declared a holiday in all schools in Mumbai on Tuesday. According to the BMC PR department, the IMD has issued a heavy rain warning. Also, the Raigad District Collector declared a holiday in schools and colleges on Tuesday, given the red alert of heavy rain.

Schools Will Also Remain Closed In Other Districts Of The State

On the other hand, the Raigad Collector’s Office has said: “Due to the warning of heavy rain in Raigad district, keeping in mind the safety of the students, a holiday has been declared in all schools and colleges of Raigad on Tuesday, July 9.” Given the heavy rain warning in Mumbai, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Education (NMMC) department declared a holiday on Tuesday in all schools under its jurisdiction.

Red Alert Issued For These Districts Of Maharashtra

At the same time, as per the order of NMMC and the Education Department, all government and private schools will remain closed. Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Mumbai, has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg on Monday and Tuesday. RMC has also issued a red alert for Pune and Satara. IMD has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Mumbai until July 12.

Along with this, IMD has predicted heavy to moderate rain in Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed. At the same time, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal have issued an alert of heavy rain till July 12.
