UP Wheat Procurement: This time, wheat purchases in Uttar Pradesh have set a new record. According to the information given by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), more than 2.05 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased from 38,000 farmers in the state in just 27 days.
The wheat procurement process started in the state on March 17, and 3,77,678 farmers have registered. The government has set up 5,790 wheat procurement centres, where this process is transparent and convenient.
Government’s Goal: Maximum Purchase At MSP
The state government’s objective is to procure wheat from as many farmers as possible at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) so that they can get a fair price for their produce. This year, the support price of wheat has been fixed at ₹ 2,425 per quintal. Farmers are also being paid an additional ₹ 20 per quintal for unloading, sieving, and cleaning.
Transparency and Improvement In Payment System
The CMO said farmers are being given timely payments and all necessary facilities so that there is no inconvenience. In the last eight years, the government has eliminated the role of middlemen by making direct payments of Rs 43,424.44 crore to more than 50 lakh farmers.
Facilitation Center and Digital Assistance for Farmers
The government has issued a toll-free number, 18001800150, to help farmers. Registration and renewal facilities have also been made available on the Food and Logistics Department’s portal, fcs.up.gov.in, and mobile app, UP KISHAN MITRA.
