Identity and address proof will now be digital
Aadhaar cards and other government digital IDs will be given the highest priority in the new system. You will no longer need to carry around stacks of documents. Integration with DigiLocker will allow applicants to share their documents online.
Police verification will be accelerated.
The most significant change has been made to the police verification process. Various departments will now be connected through a digital network, allowing verification reports to be prepared within a few days.
- Post-Verification: Passports for certain categories will be issued first, followed by police verification.
- mPassport Police App: Police will now submit reports on the spot through this app, eliminating the hassle of file backlogs.
Applications for children simplified
The process for accepting documents such as parental consent and school IDs for minors’ passports has been simplified. Digital birth certificates will now be valid as primary identification.
Portal Redesign and Real-Time Updates
The official passport website has been made more user-friendly.
