A video is going viral on social media, showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing free scooters to women based on their Aadhaar cards. The Instagram handle rounakkumartalks shared the video. However, the government has dismissed the claim as completely fake.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB)’s fact-checking unit, #PIBFactCheck, has clarified that the video was created using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the claim is false. The central government is not currently running any scheme under which free scooters are provided to women based on their Aadhaar cards.
Information about the central government’s scheme will be available here
PIB has urged people not to trust misleading videos and messages circulating on social media. AI-generated videos are often used to mislead people by impersonating politicians’ voices and faces.
