Assam Police on Monday seized a massive quantity of ganja worth Rs 40 lakh from a truck in the Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border. According to police, based on a tip-off, a police team from the Churaibari outpost intercepted a truck bearing the number TR-01C-1871 in the Choribadi area.
The police also arrested the truck driver and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) Act.
Niranjan Das, in charge of the Churaibari police post, said the truck was coming from Tripura.
He further said, During routine checking, we stopped the truck. During the search, we found 400 kg of ganja in a secret compartment of the truck. We arrested Rubel Miya, the truck driver. We have registered a case under NDPS Act and investigation. The market value of the seized hemp has been estimated at around Rs 40 lakh.

Earlier on October 17, the police had seized 3243 kg of ganja worth Rs 3.30 crore in the Churaibari area.
