Soon, consumers in the city will be free from the hassle of wrong electricity bills and their readings. Survey work is in full swing to install smart meters with new technology. 2900 meters have been installed in the city. In many places, the survey team also faces doubts from the people. Usually, consumers complain that their electricity bills are coming wrong.
Meter readers are also accused of taking arbitrary figures. All these problems will end with the smart meters that are being installed. Chief Engineer Dheeraj Sinha said that new meters will be installed after the old meters are removed. No additional charge will be taken for these.
Bills Will Be Automatically Generated On The Last Date Of Every Month
A modem is installed in the smart meter. This means the online bill for the electricity consumed on the last day of the month will be generated and sent to the consumer’s mobile number. There will be no possibility of a wrong bill. There are 3.64 lakh consumers in the city, out of which 1.12 lakh consumers already have smart meters installed. Electronic meters will be replaced with smart meters.
Smart meters are also being installed in rural areas. Chief Engineer Zone 2 Sunil Kumar Gupta said work is underway to install smart meters in Sardhana Town.
Smart Meters Installed On All Feeders To Curb Power Theft
There are 410 feeders at 51 power substations in the city. This is where electricity is supplied to different localities and areas. Smart meters have been installed on all feeders. Through this, the load is being checked every hour. In regions where line loss is high, these smart meters will effectively assess the power consumption and the recovery of electricity bills. Not only this, they are also being installed on distribution transformers. So far, 183 meters have been installed.
