Be Careful While Using ChatGPT; Have You Made This Big Mistake?

Artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT continues to be in the headlines. This AI tool has questions and answers related to every subject. If you also use it, you are not making this mistake somewhere. ChatGPT App is yet to be launched for Android users. If you come across any app that claims to be ChatGPT, you should avoid using them as those apps could be dangerous malware designed to steal your details.

Recently, a report has revealed that the problem of malware on Android phones is increasing. Malware is harmful software that can damage your phone or steal information. In this case, the malware is present in the name of a popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, which many people use.

Researchers at Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 discovered this malware. They found that it started appearing around when OpenAI released GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. These malware variants specifically target people who want to use the ChatGPT tool.

Two Types Of Malware Were Identified

Researchers have identified two types of active malware. One is called the Meterpreter Trojan, and it disguises itself as a “SuperGPT” app. Other malware pretends to be the genuine ChatGPT app but secretly sends messages to expensive phone numbers in Thailand.

The researchers also found a malicious Android Package Kit (APK) sample, a type of file used to install applications on Android devices. So if you also use it, then be careful. Let all the information on your handset get hacked, and you must bear the loss. Your phone numbers can also be used for scams.
