Microsoft issued an alert before the Lok Sabha elections were held in India. Such material can also affect elections in countries like the United States and South Korea. Microsoft said China would disseminate AI-generated content through social media to influence high-profile elections. Chinese companies are increasingly experimenting with memes, video, and audio.

In a statement, Microsoft said that China is creating content through AI, which can affect the results of elections in India, South Korea, and the United States. Microsoft said some leaders have shown a willingness to promote AI-generated media. In addition, China can influence the elections through videos, memes, and audio content.

Microsoft alerted those countries to China’s manoeuvre, reminding them that a Chinese server named Flax Typhoon had targeted entities associated with US-Philippines military exercises. In 2023, Microsoft also targeted some establishments in the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, and the United States.
