Prime Minister Modi Visited The Saifuddin Mosque

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Brunei. Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah gave him a red carpet-welcome. Today is the second day of his visit. During this, the PM will have bilateral talks with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah today. He will leave for Singapore at 11:20 am. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister had visited the Saifuddin Mosque.

PM Modi was given a guard of honour in Brunei. People of the Indian community also welcomed PM Modi at the hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. After this, PM Modi reached Brunei’s Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. Here, he watched a video related to the mosque’s history. The Prime Minister also inaugurated a chancery of the High Commission of India in Bandar Seri Begawan.

These Sectors Can Be Discussed During The PM’s Visit

This is the first visit of any Indian Prime Minister to Brunei. The two countries will complete 40 years of diplomatic relations in 2024. PM Modi has come here at the invitation of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassan Al-Bolkiah. PM Modi’s two-day Brunei visit aims to increase mutual relations between the two countries in defence, security and bilateral trade investment.

India has invested $270 million in Brunei’s hydrocarbon sector, and this amount can be increased further to meet the natural gas needs. It is reported that during PM Modi’s visit, there could be discussions on increasing cooperation in space technology and the health sector.

PM Modi’s Program in Singapore

Prime Minister Modi will meet Brunei President Hassanal Bolkiah today and attend many programs. At 8:20 am, the PM will sign the MoU after delegation-level talks. After this, at 8:30 am, he will meet President Hassanal Bolkiah at Istana Nurul Iman. At 10:30 am, he will have lunch with President Hassanal Bolkiah.

After completing the Brunei tour, Prime Minister Modi will visit Singapore today. The PM will depart for Singapore by plane at 1:50 pm. He will arrive at Changi Airport at 4:10 pm. From here, he will reach Hotel Shangri La at 4:40 pm, where he will be welcomed. After this, a dinner will be hosted by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at 6:45 pm.
