Visiting hill stations on weekends has become a burden for many people. Atal Tunnel, the world’s tallest single-tube tunnel at over 10,000 feet, saw a record number of footfalls, with 42,552 vehicles passing through in the last two days. Due to this, there has been a huge traffic jam from Atal Tunnel to Manali. Due to such chaos, many traffic violations have occurred in the last few days. A video of this is going viral.
Did This Feat With Mahindra Thar
In the video, the Mahindra Thar SUV was seen allegedly driving over the river in Sissu Valley to avoid heavy traffic jams. Many questions have been raised regarding this video, which is becoming increasingly viral on social media. People who are serious about the environment have said this is entirely wrong. The video forced the local police to act and issue traffic violation challans.
The video shows the Mahindra Thar SUV, known for its off-road capabilities. It was being run in the middle of the Chandra River. However, the river’s water level was not so high that the SUV would face any problem. Let us tell you that many times in the past, SUV owners have been fined for driving in rivers and lakes in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
Police Took Action
After the video went viral on social media, the local police administration took cognizance of the traffic violation and traced the vehicle and its owner. The man was issued a challan for breaking traffic rules. Regarding this, SP Mayank Chaudhary of the Lahaul Police Administration said-
Recently, a video went viral: a Thar is crossing the Chandra River in the Lahaul Spiti district. The said vehicle has been impounded under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, and the district police have deployed police personnel at the said location to ensure that no one commits such an offence in the future.
