Hero MotoCorp Trademarks A New Name; Can Be Used For Mavrick 440 Scrambler

The Hero Mavrick 440 middleweight motorcycle was launched earlier this year in three variants: base, mid, and top, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 2.14 lakh, and Rs 2.24 lakh, respectively. Delivery started only a few days ago. The company recently announced its upcoming bike; Hero has trademarked a new nameplate for the Mavrick 440 Scrambler.

Design

As the name suggests, this model will be a scrambler bike for off-road adventure and street riding. It will be based on the brand’s flagship Mavrick 440 motorcycle, with functional changes like taller suspension, braced handlebar, spoke wheels, knobby tyres and a flatter bench-type seat. It will be stripped down for more speed and get high exhaust pipes for ground clearance.

Hardware

The Mavrick 440 has a 43mm telescopic fork up the front suspension, 17-inch front and rear wheels, and 175mm of ground clearance. The new Hero Scrambler bike’s front forks may have gaiters, while the rear spring will be retained. It is expected to get 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The bike may also have a headlight guard and bash plate.

Engine

Many changes will be made in its design for off-road, but the engine of its sibling can be found in the new Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler. This means it will come with a 440cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor that can be re-tuned for off-road capabilities. The current engine produces 27bhp power and 36Nm torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip-and-assist clutch.

Launch and Competition

There is no official information on the launch timeline of the new Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler, but we expect it to hit the market in late 2024 or early 2025. Once launched, it will compete with the Triumph Scrambler 400X, Royal Enfield Scram 411, Yezdi Scrambler and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. The Mavrick Scrambler will be slightly more expensive than its regular model.
