Development work stalled due to the monsoon will now pick up pace. As soon as the rains end, preparations have begun to implement incomplete projects related to roads, drains, parks, and ghats.

The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO) will begin work on several major projects, including the Saidpur, Rajiv Nagar, and Anandpuri drains, starting in the last week of this month.

In view of the festivals, BUIDCO has accelerated preparations for the resumption of work. Under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme, more than 300 such projects have been approved for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, but work on them was halted due to the rains.

These include road construction, road repairs, development of parks and ghats, and paving of drains.

BUIDCO is carrying out development work by dividing Patna into eight divisions.

Of the 500 projects approved in the financial year 2025-26, work on 177 was halted during the rainy season. Similarly, out of the 393 projects approved in 2024-25, work will resume on 127 stalled projects.

Saidpur Drain to be constructed from two sides

To expedite the construction of the Saidpur Drain, work will begin simultaneously from both Gaighat and Rampur. Electricity poles obstructing construction have been relocated.

The flow of drain water has also been temporarily diverted to avoid waterlogging during construction.

Poles removed in Rajiv Nagar, casting now underway

Work on the Rajiv Nagar main drain will also begin in the last week of this month. Work was halted in July to avoid disrupting public movement when the monsoons began.

Construction will now begin from the Rajapur Bridge side. On Sunday, all the electricity poles along the drain were removed. The silt in the drain is being cleaned rapidly. Work on the Anandpuri drain will also resume.

Drains built, roads awaited

Incomplete development projects have worsened the problems faced by residents in many areas. A box drain has been constructed on Indrapuri Road No. 10 in Ward 7, but the dug-up road has not been repaired.

People are forced to walk over the drain. Meanwhile, a drain and road are to be constructed from Yogipur Chowk to Gandhi Nagar on Geeta Prasad Road in Ward 45 at a cost of ₹1.57 crore.

The drain work is almost complete, but the lack of a road is causing inconvenience to pedestrians. Now, these unfinished projects will also be completed.
