Google has a new surprise for Chrome users in India. The company has begun rolling out its Gemini AI Auto Browse feature. This feature allows Gemini to open websites, gather information, compare different options, and even perform tasks automatically at the user’s request. This feature hasn’t been released to all users in India yet; only Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers can currently use it.

The unique feature of Google Gemini’s Auto Browse is that users don’t need to visit each website and perform separate tasks. They can tell Gemini the task in their spoken language, and the Gemini browser can then take the necessary steps to complete it. For example, if someone needs to find a hotel for travel, they can have Gemini compare the prices and options of different hotels.

Similarly, Gemini can search for products based on specific needs, retrieve information from different websites, and, in some cases, even add items to a shopping cart. This feature can also assist with tasks like filling out forms.

How Auto Browse Works in Chrome

Using Auto Browse allows Gemini to operate in the browser temporarily. It can open websites, click links, scroll down pages, and enter information when needed. An Auto Browse prompt appears in Chrome during this time, indicating that Gemini is operating in the browser.

If the user wishes to change their instructions mid-task, they can give Gemini a new instruction. If necessary, they can also pause the task and take control of the browser themselves.

However, Gemini won’t automatically complete every task. User approval may be required, especially for tasks that may involve financial costs or are difficult to repay later. This means Gemini may ask for confirmation before making a purchase or other important action.

Which users in India will get the feature?

In India, the Auto Browse feature is currently available to users with Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscriptions. This feature is also available on desktop and Android. Google has gradually expanded Gemini’s features in Chrome. Initially, Gemini appeared as a side panel in Chrome, where users could ask questions about the open website.

With the introduction of Auto Browse, Gemini’s role has expanded further. Now, instead of simply explaining information on a webpage, it can also perform multi-step tasks in the browser at the user’s command.

How to use Auto Browse in Chrome

First, go to the latest version of Chrome and look for the Gemini icon on the right side. Clicking this icon opens the Gemini side panel. If Auto Browse is enabled on your account, the option will appear here.

After this, you can write your task to Gemini in plain language. Gemini will start working on the website according to the instructions. While it’s running, you can give it new instructions, stop the process, or take back control of the browser if needed.
