200 New Electric Buses Coming To Delhi; These Buses Will Run On These Routes From July

Before the G-20 meeting in Delhi, the process of including electric buses in the DTC fleet continues. In this episode, 200 more electric buses have been included. From the first week of July, these buses will start plying on the roads of Delhi.

In the budget of the Delhi government, a plan was prepared to include 1500 new electric buses in the DTC fleet by the end of this year. Considering this, 200 new electric buses have reached Delhi from the Lucknow depot of Tata Motors.

Final touches were given for several days to send these buses to Delhi at the Lucknow plant of Tata Motors. After reaching Delhi, the process of registration for these buses started. After this process, it will be on the roads by the first week of July. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that by 2025, 80 per cent of Delhi’s buses will be electric and running e-buses will go a long way in reducing pollution in the national capital.

Travelling By Electric Buses In Delhi Will Be Easy

Kejriwal recently shared a roadmap for purchasing electric buses and said that the government will buy 1,500 such buses in 2023, and 6,380 electric buses will be bought by 2025. There are currently 7,379 buses plying on the roads of Delhi, the highest number in the last 75 years. Of these 7,379 buses, more than 4,000 are operated by Delhi Transport Corporation and more than 3,000 by DIMTS. About 100 electric feeder buses are also used by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Know The Plan Of The Delhi Government

According to the Delhi government, by 2025, there will be more than 10,000 buses on the roads of Delhi, and 80 per cent of them will be electric. All electric buses are of 12-meter long, air-conditioned and low floor. These buses have all the necessary facilities like CCTV cameras, panic buttons, LED display systems, pink seats for women, wheelchair ramps, and reserved seats for the elderly and disabled. Infrastructure is also being prepared for the charging and maintenance of these buses.

Apart from these 1500 electric buses in Delhi, about 2080 small-size buses of 9 meters are being purchased separately to run on the routes of Mohalla Bus Service. All these buses will also be air-conditioned and will ply in those areas where big-size buses are not able to ply as of now. The Delhi government says that this will improve last-mile connectivity and provide convenience to the people.
