The Journey Of This Flagship Model Of Mahindra Is Over! Know The Reason

The big news is coming regarding the vehicle portfolio of the country’s leading automobile manufacturers Mahindra & Mahindra. It is being told that the company has discontinued Mahindra’s flagship model SUV Alturas G4. Although official confirmation about it is yet to be received, this SUV has been removed from the company’s official website.

After this, the discussion of discontinuing the sale of this model is going on in full swing. This SUV of Mahindra was seen as a rival to Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market, but this SUV could not do anything special in the market.

According to media reports, the company’s dealership has also stopped booking this SUV. For the last few months, the demand for this SUV has decreased continuously, and its sales have declined. Based on the ladder frame, this full-size SUV failed to attract customers. The SUV was last available in a fully loaded 4X2 High variant, launched in September. The price of this SUV was Rs 30.68 lakh (ex-showroom).

A notice regarding the Alturas G4 has also been issued on the company’s official website. It is written that “Thank you for your interest in Alturas G4; keeping in view the market situation, the sale of this SUV has been put on hold till further orders.”

This SUV was a rebadged model of SsangYong Rexton, which the company was offering in the Indian market as a Complete Knock Down (CKD) unit. Let us tell you that earlier, Mahindra Group had overtaken South Korean automaker Ssangyang, but later this year, it was sold to Edison Motors. Due to the high price, this SUV could not do anything special in the market. At the same time, Toyota Fortuner remains the leader in the segment, and this SUV is also getting frequent updates.

Specifications Of Alturas G4

The company used a 2.2-litre diesel engine in this SUV, sourced from Mercedes-Benz. This engine generates a power of 181hp and a torque of 420Nm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission gearbox as standard. Initially, this SUV used to go in both Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) variants, but later the company used to sell only its RWD variant.
