Mahindra Thar 5-door: Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the new Thar 5-door at an event on Independence Day, August 15. The company will launch a new car every August 15 from 2020. This is the fourth time Mahindra is again introducing a new vehicle. In the past, they introduced the new Thar, XUV700 and a few electric vehicles.
This year’s event will be held in South Africa as it is an important market for Mahindra. They have been doing business there since 1996. They sell a few SUVs like the XUV300, XUV700 and Scorpio N. Now; they want to add the Thar to their lineup in South Africa. The Thar 5-door is expected to debut in India as well.
The Thar 5-door is an extended version of the Thar car. It will be bigger than the 5-door version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, another popular off-road vehicle. Sales of the Thar 5-door are expected to start in India next year. The new Dhar is designed, keeping in mind large families, to provide a more comfortable ride. In comparison, the 3-door Mahindra Thar is quite small. However, the 5-door variant is expected to be much more expensive than the existing 3-door variant.
What Are The Features?
Mahindra Thar gets 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel engine, 2.2-litre mHawk 130 CRDe diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol engine. The car measures 3,985mm in length, 1,820mm in width and 1,855mm in height. It has a long wheelbase of 2,450 mm and a ground clearance of 226 mm. The Thar gets the option of 16 and 18-inch alloy wheels. Thar starting price will be available from Rs 10.54 lakh to Rs 16.77 lakh ex-showroom.
