According to Apple’s official website, the new MacBook Pro starts at ₹349,900. However, if you purchase the highest configuration, the price goes up to ₹1877,600. This means you could end up paying up to ₹161,747 per month if you buy it on EMI. Digital content creator Mohsin compared the price of this laptop to that of the Hyundai Creta, and the video has gone viral online.

How does the price increase sixfold?

Mohsin said, “The MacBook Pro that Apple is selling for ₹350,000 has a 14-inch screen size. It’s silver in colour, has standard glass, and uses the M5 Pro chip. Its processing power is a 15-core CPU and a 16-core GPU.

The unified memory is 24GB. Storage is 1TB. Only a 70-watt power adapter is included.” The Final Cut Pro license isn’t included. This is why the price is low. However, if you buy this laptop in the highest configuration, the price increases by up to six times.

What extras do you get by paying more?

Mohsin explained, “For ₹60,000 more, you can increase the laptop’s screen size to 16 inches. For ₹18,000 more, you get nano-textured glass. For ₹6,07,900 more, you get the most powerful M5 Max Chip.

For ₹44,000 more, you can upgrade to an 18-core CPU and a 20-core GPU. For ₹2,40,000 more, you can increase the 24GB unified memory to 128GB. For ₹8,40,000 more, you can increase the storage from 2TB to 16TB.

For ₹29,900 more, you get a pre-installed Final Cut Pro license.” This brings the total cost of your laptop to ₹17,97,800. This does not include AppleCare Plus, which is worth ₹59,900, and the Logic Pro license, which is worth ₹19,900.

Price comparison between the Hyundai Creta and the Apple MacBook Pro

The on-road price of the Hyundai Creta in the Delhi-NCR and Ghaziabad region ranges from approximately ₹12.68 lakh to ₹24.15 lakh, depending on the variant, engine, and transmission. This means that a fully upgraded MacBook Pro, which costs approximately ₹18.77 lakh, is more than the price of several Hyundai Creta variants.

Although these two products serve completely different purposes, Mohsin’s playful comparison highlights the hefty price tag of Apple’s premium laptops, even with its most expensive upgrades.
