Yamaha is preparing to introduce the electric variant of its very popular sports bike, YZF R1. The company has filed a patent for its battery pack cooling system, and the frame is very similar to R1. Let’s see what special features will be seen in the electric version of YZF R1.
The Drivetrain Will Be Seen With an Aluminum Plate
The patent application of R1 Electric shows the bike’s design and its battery pack’s status. This electric bike will have a tubular space frame, where the battery can be a load-bearing member. At the same time, its drivetrain can be made of aluminium plate, which works as an engine and swingarm bearing. Its gearbox will drive the rear wheel through a chain.
The Bike Will Be Equipped With A Battery Pack As Big As 20kWh.
The innovative cooling plate is vented with water to remove heating from the group of eight cell modules. The cooling plate frame will have a double H, which can be easily replaced. According to media reports, this electric bike can come with a battery pack as big as 20kWh.
The Chassis Of The Electric Version Will Be Similar To R1
The chassis of the electric version will be similar to that of the R1, and it can be used only for performance. Its suspension setup looks quite simple for a great sports bike, as it will be mounted directly on the swingarm. Something similar has already been seen in Ducati and Livewire performance electronic motorcycles. Whether the frame Yamaha has patented is for the electric R1 or some other bike will be known only after the bike comes to the Indian market.
