People in India celebrate the festival of Navratri with great devotion and enthusiasm. Today is the fourth day of Sharadiya Navratri. During this time, people worshipped Mata Rani and kept fast; many devotees had to keep fast for nine days as per the rules. During these nine days, devotees consumed only Khichdi, fruit, and fast items. Sago, buckwheat flour, and potatoes were consumed the most.
Potatoes are more important during Navratri. Things like potato puri are made to offer to Mata Rani. Most people use rock salt to consume boiled potato curry during this Navratri fast. Eating potatoes during fasting gives energy to the body, but in such a situation, many dishes can be made and consumed instead of potato curry.
