BCCI Reaction To Harmanpreet Kaur’s Ban; Binny and Laxman To Talk To Her

Three days after the conclusion of the ODI series in Dhaka, the ICC has banned Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur for two matches for breaching the rules during the series decider at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Saturday, July 22. Even before the ICC stated this incident, India’s experienced cricketers had also demanded strict action against Harmanpreet from the BCCI; on Thursday, the board’s secretary Jay Shah reacted to it.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been fined for two separate breaches of the Code of Conduct during the third match of the ICC Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh. In the first case, the 34-year-old broke stumps in frustration after being dismissed, for which she was found guilty of a Level 2 offence and was fined 50 per cent of his match fee and given three demerit points. In another episode, she questioned the umpires’ decisions after the match.

During a media conference, Jay Shah opened up on BCCI’s stand on the incident in Dhaka and said that the board would not appeal to the ICC to revoke or relieve Harmanpreet’s ban as the time for appeal is over. He has also said that BCCI president Roger Binny and NCA chief VVS Laxman, two game stalwarts, will speak to Harmanpreet as per the board’s instructions in the next few days.
