The wonderful news has come out to the cricket fans. Preparations are being made to restart the Champions T20 League, played between franchises worldwide or the winners of domestic T20 leagues. The cricket boards of India, Australia and England are talking about restarting this league. The last time this league was organized was in 2014.

In 2014, the final match of the Champions T20 League was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, in which MS Dhoni’s team won the title. Last time, three teams from India, two from Australia and South Africa and one from Pakistan, West Indies and New Zealand participated in the Champions T20 League.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have twice won the Champions T20 League title. At the same time, Australia’s New South Wales and Sydney Sixers won their title once each. There was a craze for this T20 league among cricket fans worldwide.

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins said the biggest challenge is creating a window for this in the busy cricket calendar. “I think the Champions League was a premature initiative. T20 cricket was not that mature then, but it is now,” he said on the occasion of the partnership with Khelomore to launch the Melbourne Cricket Academy in India.

He further said, “Cricket Australia, ECB and BCCI are talking about restarting it. Finding a window for this in the busy ICC calendar is difficult. The first Champions League may be in women’s cricket, where WPL, The Hundred And teams from the Women’s Big Bash League will play.”
