For the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, all 10 teams released the list of retained and released players on Tuesday (November 15). Now, these teams are busy making strategies regarding the mini-auction of IPL. The mini-auction is going to be held in Kochi on December 23.
Before going into the mini-auction, Punjab Kings (PBKS) has taken some big decisions. In this episode, the franchise has appointed former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin as the team’s assistant coach. Punjab Kings tweeted Brad Haddin has been entered as an assistant coach. How excited are you? Haddin played 66 Tests, 126 ODIs and 34 T20 Internationals for Australia.

Jaffer-Langvelt’s Entry Too
Former Team India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has also returned to Punjab Kings. He will again play the batting coach role in Punjab Kings after an absence of one year. At the same time, former South African fast bowler Charl Langeveldt has joined the franchise as a bowling coach. Langeveldt had been a part of Punjab earlier also, and he played an essential role in improving the career of fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.
Shikhar Dhawan Will Captain
Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) have been participating in the IPL since the initial season, but they are still looking for the first title. Punjab Kings have made it to the playoffs only twice, including 2014 final.
Taking a big step before the auction, Punjab has released Mayank Agarwal, who was the captain of the team last season. Shikhar Dhawan was made the captain of the team in place of Mayank.
The Punjab Kings team is now hoping to win the first IPL title under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan and the guidance of head coach Trevor Bayliss. Punjab Kings recently made Bayliss the team’s head coach in place of Anil Kumble. Trevor Bayliss is the coach who led Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 under his coaching.
Punjab Released These Players
Before the IPL 2023 auction, Punjab Kings released 9 players. This includes the names of Mayank Agarwal, Odion Smith, Vaibhav Arora, Benny Howell, Ishaan Porel, Ansh Patel, Prerak Mankad, Sandeep Sharma, Hrithik Chatterjee. Due to the release of 9 players, 32.2 crore rupees are now left in Punjab Kings’ purse.
