ICC’s Big Action Against Team India, Got This Punishment For A Slow-Over Rate

Team India’s start in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh was nothing special, and they had to face defeat by one wicket in the first match. In the match held in Dhaka on Sunday, the Indian team had scored just 186 runs when they were invited to bat first. In response, the Bangladeshi team won the match with 24 balls remaining. The two teams will play the second ODI on Wednesday (December 07).

Indian Players Were Fined So Much

Not only did the Indian team lose in the first match against Bangladesh, but Team India also had to face the punishment of a slow-over rate. The ICC has fined Indian players 80 per cent of their match fees for slow over-rate in this match.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and support staff related to slow over rate, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees at the rate per over for not completing the over in the stipulated time.

India Bowled Four Overs Short

The Indian team had bowled four overs less in the stipulated time, which means that the team players will have to pay 80 per cent of the match fee as a fine. On-field umpires Michael Gough and Tanveer Ahmed, third umpire Sharfuddaulah Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Ghazi Sohail had levelled allegations of slow over-rate on the Indian team. According to the ICC press release, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has accepted the fine, so there was no need for further hearing.

The Batsmen Did The Team’s Fleet

The major reason for the defeat of the Indian team in the first ODI was the poor performance of the batsmen. India’s batting was a complete flop, and the entire team was bundled out for 186 runs in 41.2 overs. KL Rahul scored the maximum 73 runs for the team while fighting unilaterally.

While Rohit Sharma contributed 27, and Shreyas Iyer contributed 24 runs. From Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan broke the back of the Indian team by taking a maximum of five wickets. At the same time, fast bowler Ibadat Hussain supported Shakib by taking four wickets.

Bad Fielding Drowned

The Indian bowlers tried their best to defend the target of 187 runs, but due to poor fielding, the team’s loot sank. KL Rahul even dropped an easy catch of Mehdi Hasan, which he took advantage of. Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Mustafizur Rahman snatched the match from India’s jaws by sharing a half-century partnership for the last wicket.
